We are not called “The Shire of Villages” for nothing. The Shire has three major
villages which support a number of hamlets each with their own personality. For more

Binda – the original administrative settlement of the Crookwell region located 21
km to the north
Bigga– superfine merino country and gateway to Grabine Lakeside State Park
Breadalbane – close to Goulburn on the Great Southern Railway line
Collector – north of Canberra and the famous Lake George and home of many bushranging
tales
Crookwell – the largest township supporting the surrounding farming community
Dalton – just north of Gunning and home to the very popular Royal Hotel
Grabben Gullen – sapphire country where many a fossicker has found their fortune
Gunning – just off the Hume Highway, home of the annual Gunning Fireworks Festival
Laggan – once a key pioneering travel route and still an excellent watering hole
Taralga – beautiful vistas and impressive stone architecture
Tuena – home of the 1851 gold rush and still offers hope for the fossicker
