The extensive inclusion of newspaper extracts from the Sydney Morning Herald from 1851 – 1895 was made possible thanks to the online archive portal TROVE run by the National Library of Australia [www.trove.nla.gov.au] Digitisation of the Sydney Morning Herald newspapers was supported by the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation.

state library of NSW

Particular thanks in relation to this website’s photographic material are due to the State Library of NSW. [www.sl.nsw.gov.au] As its website notes “The State Library has launched two multi-million dollar projects which will provide unprecedented, world-wide access to our most iconic and historically significant documents and objects.” Work on this Gold Trails website benefitted very directly from the easy access to the quality archival material provided by the library and its enhanced on line services. Individual accreditation of material is included throughout the site.

The National Library of Australia [www.nla.gov.au] resources underpin the creation of this website and their assistance in this regard is gratefully acknowledged. In particular their online collection of high resolution heritage maps presented with zoom-in capability was an essential resource. The library’s photo collection also provided much valuable material.

Victorian goldmining was always the standard by which other mining operations around Australia were judged. It is no surprise therefore that the Victorian State Library [www.slv.vic.gov.au] is a resource of great depth in relation to this subject. Their pictorial collections have provided an essential level of detail that enriches this site.
