Murrumbateman Field Days

The best days are Field Days at Murrumbateman! Held on the third weekend in October each year, The Murrumbateman Fields Days are the Yass Valley and Canberra Region’s premier small farm field day event.

Sculpture in the Paddock

Sculpture in the Paddock is staged in the beautiful surrounds of the National Trust property‘Cooma Cottage’, once home of the famous Australian born colonial explorer Hamilton Hume. From the Friday 18th September until the 12th October 2015 these beautiful sculptures will be on display for everyone to enjoy.

Classic Yass

Just old fashioned fun! Classic Yass is an amazing weekend of family fun and events. A sensational motor show of classic cars on display in Banjo Patterson Park plus the very popular Rotary Billy Cart Derby returns, catering for all age groups.

The Globe Inn

The Globe Inn was once the venue for meetings, balls, theatrical entertainment and the booking offices for the Telegraph Line of American Covered Coaches. It was one of the largest hotels in Yass until c1880 when it became a boarding house. The Globe Inn (circa 1847) is now a boutique bed and breakfast accommodation.

Hume & Hovell Walking Track

The Hume and Hovell Walking Track stretches over 440km between Yass and Albury and allows walkers to rediscover the route of explorers Hamilton Hume and William Hovell on their expedition to Port Phillip in 1824.

Yass Heritage Town Walk & Drive

Explore the town and wonderful architecture that give Yass its alluring charm. Europeans first entered the Yass area in 1821 and settlement started on the south bank of the Yass River following the Hume & Hovell expedition in 1824.  

Yass & District Historical Museum

From its formation in 1961 the Society have been actively collecting objects of historical interest related to Yass and District. The Museum was officially opened in its present location in December 1988 after extensive refurbishments were made to a former garage over a period of some five years.

Yass Railway Heritage Centre

The original station building was erected way back in 1891; The Yass Railway Museum is home to the steam locomotive 1307 and NSW’s shortest platform, it also exhibits a host of railway memorabilia housed in the original station, boasting static displays of original period steam engines, carriages and goods vans.  

Bowning
