The CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope (or the Dish) is located 20 kilometres north of town with a 5 kilometre detour off the Newell Highway. With the Visitors Discovery Centre filled with information and exciting history on the Dish and an award winning café with delectable food, it’s a perfect place to visit when travelling through inland NSW. The Centre features many displays, hands on exhibits and a 3D theatre featuring programs on space and astronomy. Souvenirs of the Dish, as well as space and science books, DVDs and science toys can all be bought at the Dish Shop. The Dish is one of Australia’s most prominent landmarks with an amazing history!
