Murrumbateman Food & Wine

A former gold mining town, Murrumbateman is the focus of the Canberra district cool-climate wine region with over 30 wineries now achieving acclaim on Australian and international tables.

Murrumbateman is the ideal base to explore the entire area or a different way to approach a visit to the nationals capital.

Every cellar door provides a different experience. You’ll find yourself in places as varied as a one room Victorian schoolhouse and former temperance hall to architectural masterpieces surrounded by art and beauty.

Many vineyards offer refreshments such as the restaurant Flint at Shaw Vineyard. There are numerous interesting places to stay from intimate B & Bs to the Murrumbateman Country Inn, a motel right in the heart of wine country.

The Makers of Murrumbateman showcase the area’s produce and arts while you can sample the relaxed country lifestyle with a visit to the Farmers Market held the second and fourth Saturdays each month.

Private gardens are open to the public at various times of the year through Australia’s Open Garden Scheme.
