About

The Henry Lawson Festival is an annual event held in Grenfell, NSW on the June long weekend. Grenfell is the birthplace of Henry Lawson, one of Australia’s best loved poets and writer of short stories. 2015 was the 58th year of the festival, and it was a fantastic event.

The theme for the 2015 festival was ‘My Kiwi Mates’. Henry Lawson had a strong connection to New Zealand having worked there in the 1890’s. This theme is also acknowledged 2015 in the Centenary of the ANZAC.

The festival kicked off on the Thursday evening with a special event at the Grenfell Art Gallery, and from there, through to the Monday a wide array of exhibitions, events and entertainment were on show for all tastes and ages. Art exhibitions, a colourful street procession, children’s rides, street entertainment including busking and live music, and car show are just a few of the wonderful events that took place over the festival weekend.
